Edwards’ 20 points drives Boston to 1st Summer League Win

Just as he did in his star-studded collegiate career, former Purdue guard Carsen Edwards took command of the perimeter and helped the Celtics grab win number one of Summer League basketball, defeating the Philadelphia 76ers 96-82.

Sinking 5 of 12 from behind the arc, the 6-foot shifty play-maker in Edwards helped on both ends, and tied with Robert Williams with three steals on the day. Along with getting the starting nod, fellow draftee Tremont Waters helped in the backcourt, chipping in 9 points to go with a relentless motor in 21 minutes of play for the Connecticut native.

Second-year forward/center Robert Williams made a big difference in the post, given that he is not necessarily a scoring machine. he is known for the 7½-foot wingspan accompanying his 6-foot-10 frame and utilizing other ways of getting the ball. Snatching 9 rebounds ( 4 offensive), Williams led the squad and helped chip in a few blocks and three steals in just 19 minutes of play time The Texas A&M product will likely see some big action this season due to a shortage of front court depth and appealing intangibles.

Off the bench, University of Tennessee forward Grant Williams proved that he is worth giving valuable minutes this upcoming season. Scoring 12 points and corralling 6 boards in 20 minutes along with two assists and steals, Williams 2.0 with Robert can give Boston some unique help protecting the basket.

A sure fan favorite, 7-foot-6 Tacko Fall not only showed his truly elite size is worth a summer roster spot, but being as coordinated as he is, the coaching staff is going to take a hard look at whether his fundamentals are worth a roster spot on the active roster. Starting his professional career with a  6-point-4-rebound performance in 10 minutes, the Central Florida alum did what he could in 10 minutes while towering over players.
