Educators: Schedule a fall classroom wildlife program

CONCORD, NH — Educators who want to introduce their students in grades 3-6 to New Hampshire’s wildlife and aquatic resources – or to reinforce related lessons – have until September 28 to request fall 2018 Wonders of Wildlife (WOW) presentations by New Hampshire Fish and Game Department volunteer docents.

Wonders of Wildlife is a series of active educational programs presented in the classroom. Fish and Game WOW docents travel to elementary schools statewide to present one of four interactive programs: Habits and Habitats, Endangered Species, Pond Ecology, and Wetlands. There is no charge for the programs.

Teachers may download a print-and-mail program request form found on the Fish and Game website.

“Our enthusiastic WOW docents can provide an interactive resource to support wildlife and environmental education in the classroom,” said program coordinator Mary Goodyear, a Fish and Game Wildlife Educator. “These free programs give students – our future environmental stewards – the opportunity to learn more about the outdoors, wildlife, and the natural environment.”

Each year, some 20 trained volunteer WOW docents present more than 100 wildlife educational programs to students statewide.
