Crash on 101 slows traffic for several hours after camper, box truck, collide
The right travel lane of Route 101 was closed throughout the crash investigation – 3½ hours – leaving the passing lane open for the motoring public.
CONCORD, NH – A crash involving a camper and a box truck tied up traffic on Route 101 Monday for several hours.
Just before 2 p.m. on Oct. 15, 2018, Troopers from the NH State Police-Troop A barracks responded to the area of Route 101 eastbound in Raymond for a report of a rollover motor vehicle crash. Troopers arrived to find a 2007 Dodge pick-up truck hauling a Puma camper and a 2016 Ryder box truck. Preliminary investigation revealed that the camper started to sway which caused the camper to collide with the Ryder box truck. This action caused the truck and camper to roll over off to the right side of the road. The reason for the camper swaying is still under investigation.
The right travel lane was closed throughout the crash investigation – 3½ hours – leaving the passing lane open for the motoring public. Crews worked to remove both vehicles, camper and debris, creating significant traffic delays.
The operator of the Dodge pick-up truck was identified as Mark Carnazzo, 50, from Revere, Mass. Carnazzo sustained non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to the Elliott Hospital for care. Carnazzo is the registered owner of the pick-up truck.
The operator of the Ryder box truck was identified as Paul Bourassa, 30, from Rumford, RI. He was transported to the Exeter Hospital to be checked out as a precaution. Ryder Truck Rental Inc. is the registered owner of the box truck.
The NH State Police were assisted at the scene by the Raymond Police and Fire Departments, Epping Police Department, Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, the NH Department of Transportation, Al’s Automotive and Alan’s Truck.
