CONCORD, NH — Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald and Concord Police Chief Bradley Osgood announce that an investigation is currently ongoing into the death of an adult female in Concord, and that an arrest has been made in connection with that death.  The investigation is being conducted by the Concord Police Department in conjunction with the Attorney General’s Office.

Police involvement began on the afternoon of July 28, 2019, when officers went to an apartment complex in Concord in response to several 911 calls.  Outside the apartment complex, police found an adult female, Nathalia Da Paixao, 35, from several apparent stab wounds.  Ms. Da Paixao later died at Concord Hospital.  An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted Monday by the New Hampshire Chief Medical Examiner’s Office.

Based upon the investigation conducted, Emerson Jaques Figueiredo, 42, gas been arrested and charged with alternative counts of second degree murder, RSA 630:1-b, one for knowingly causing the death of Ms. Da Paixao by stabbing her, and the other for recklessly causing the death of Ms. Da Paixao, under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life, by stabbing her.

Nathalia Da Paixao and Emerson Jaques Figueiredo were spouses.

It is anticipated that Emerson Jaques Figueiredo will be arraigned at Merrimack County Superior Court on July 29, 2019.

The charges and allegations are merely accusations, and Emerson Jaques Figueiredo is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.  Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Lt. Sean Ford of the Concord Police Department at (603) 225-8600 or the Concord Regional Crimeline at (603) 226-3100.
