MANCHESTER, N.H. – On Monday, April 28, Manchester Mayor Jay Ruais that the city has reached tentative agreements with all ten city unions that had expiring collective bargaining agreements. The current agreements are set to expire at the end of June, the end of the city’s fiscal year, and the new agreements came only after several months of negotiation.
In a statement, Ruais thanked Manchester Director of Human Resources Lisa Drabik and the city’s negotiating team, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and union representatives from AFSCME, Teamsters, IAFF, MAFS and PPSA.
He is urging the Board of Mayor and Aldermen to approve the contracts at the board’s May 6 meeting to ensure that the open enrollment period for healthcare signups can proceed without disruption for employees in these unions.
Currently, there are approximately 1,300 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees that work for the City of Manchester. Approximately 860 of those employees are union members and roughly 2/3rds of those union members were covered by these renegotiated contracts, which is approved would last until 2027.
