Christmas Concert & Living Nativity Dec. 19 at Brookside Congregational Church
Brookside Congregational Church is holding its 6th Annual Christmas Concert on Dec. 19, kicking off a series of smaller no-cost community events to celebrate the season.
MANCHESTER, NH – Brookside Congregational Church is holding its 6th Annual Christmas Concert on Dec. 19, kicking off a series of smaller no-cost community events to celebrate the season.
The Christmas Concert begins at 3 p.m. and will include a program performed by all the choirs of Brookside Congregational Church, directed by the Church’s Minister of Music, Kimberly Vars Whitehead.
- At 4:15 p.m. enjoy hot cocoa and cookies inside the church’s historic Manning House, which will also be decorated for Christmas.
- At 4:30 p.m. bells will be ringing as carillon music is played by Brookside’s Church Sexton and multi-talented musician, Heath Auger. Gather outside to enjoy the festive sounds of the season leading into the start of a Living Nativity Scene to take place on the Manning House circle driveway facing out toward Elm Street.
- At 5 p.m., actors of all ages from Brookside Church will be joined by friendly animals from Miles Smith Farm and local youth from their 4-H Club for a Living Nativity scene. A combination of acting along with interactive singing among all event-goers will come together to help tell the First Christmas Story of Jesus’ Birth.
Although there is no admission cost, concert-goers are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items which will be donated to New Horizons for New Hampshire. A $5 donation to Brookside Congregational Church is also suggested in order to help with continued support of its Music Ministry and future events, such as this one.
All those who attend are encouraged to dress according to the weather for outdoor events.

Brookside Congregational Church has a tremendous impact on the Greater Manchester community as it provides not only a place of Sunday worship for parishioners, but it also provides a common location for numerous local nonprofits and community organizations to gather on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. The mission of Brookside is community-focused. In keeping with its mission, the Church is utilized by over 30 organizations in the Manchester area. The groups that use the Brookside buildings include support groups for alcoholics, overeaters, and adults with mental illness; grief counseling, a community garden for refugee immigrants and neighbors of Brookside, an annual fundraiser for the local food pantry, and various other services including a parish nursing program and local theater group. In addition, two small congregations meet weekly in Brookside’s chapel and the Church is also home to Pastoral Counseling Services and a thrift shop that caters to immigrant and low-income population groups. Brookside Congregational Church has an extensive commitment to service within the local community.
