Broken tail light leads to heroin arrest at Crystal Lake
Police say Zechariah Pelletier gave police a fake name after he was questioned. Police found a syringe filled with heroin in his car.
MANCHESTER, NH – On September 8, 2015, approximately 5:30 p.m., Officer James Pittman was patrolling the area of Bodwell Road, near Crystal Lake, when he observed a red Ford Focus operating south on Bodwell Road with a defective brake light.
He conducted a stop as the vehicle pulled into the parking lot of Crystal Lake. Upon approaching the vehicle, he noticed the operator was sweating profusely and appeared to be shaking as he held on to the steering wheel. His demeanor prompted the officer to look beyond the initial motor vehicle infraction.
The driver initially provided a false name during the stop. He was ultimately arrested for possession of a controlled drug after Officer Derek Cataldo arrived on scene and located a needle containing 40cc of a brown liquid (about 1.3 ounces). The hypodermic needle was located inside of a zippered binder, which was wedged between the driver and passenger seats. The brown liquid tested positive for heroin.
The arrested subject was transported to police headquarters to complete the booking process. During the fingerprinting process the officers were able to determine his true identity. He was identified as Zechariah Pelletier, 27, of Manchester.
Based on the fact he signed two official documents under an alias, he was charged with unsworn falsification.
He will appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on September 9, 2015 for possession of a controlled drug and unsworn falsification.
