Body of Cannon Mountain ‘overdue skier’ found in woods Sunday

The weekend search for an overdue skier at Cannon Mountain in Franconia concluded with the tragic discovery early Sunday of the skier’s body on the Upper Ravine Trail, according to NH Fish & Game.

CONCORD, NH – The weekend search for an overdue skier at Cannon Mountain in Franconia concluded with the tragic discovery early Sunday of the skier’s body on one of the ski trails.

On Saturday March 26 Franconia Police were alerted to a report of an overdue skier at the Cannon Mountain Ski Area. A vehicle belonging to Trevor Hennessey, 29, of Holden, Mass., was located at a parking lot at the ski area. NH Fish and Game, and Officers from Franconia Police Department launched a search that went throughout the night.

At daybreak Sunday additional searchers from Cannon Mountain Ski Patrol, Conservation Officers from NH Fish and Game, Volunteers from Pemi Valley Search and Rescue, and the Franconia Police Department continued a search of trails. Shortly after 8 a.m. Cannon Mountain Ski Patrol located Hennessey’s body in the woods, approximately 40 feet off the Upper Ravine Trail. He had succumbed to injuries sustained when he left the trail and entered a wooded area, described as massive head trauma.

Skiers are reminded that there are spring conditions on most ski areas in New Hampshire and conditions change throughout the day.
