Bedford police investigate incident that left bicyclist seriously injured
Anyone who may have seen a bicyclist Sunday morning in Bedford should contact Bedford Police.


BEDFORD, NH — Bedford Police Department is investigating the circumstances that led to a woman bicyclist being seriously injured on Sunday morning.
At approximately 8:45 a.m. on July 22, Bedford Police responded to the area of 36 Birkdale Road.
Upon arrival, officers located a 58-year-old woman bicyclist who had suffered serious injuries. The woman was taken to a local hospital. Her condition was unknown as of Monday morning.

The incident is under investigation and Chief John Bryfonski is seeking the public’s help with determining how the bicyclist was injured. The woman was wearing a bright orange shirt, a white helmet and she was riding a gray Trek hybrid bicycle.
Anyone who saw the woman in the area is asked to call Bedford Police at 603-472-5113.
Motorists are reminded they are required to exercise due care to avoid colliding with any pedestrian or any person propelling a human powered vehicle and shall exercise due care by leaving a reasonable and prudent distance between the vehicle and the bicycle; at least three (3) feet when the vehicle is traveling at 30 miles per hour or less with one (1) additional foot of clearance required for every 10 miles per hour above 30 miles per hour.
