Autopsy results released for Amherst Street shooting victim
An autopsy was completed Tuesday, January 2, 2024, on Sophia Bonfiglio, 26, who was shot and killed on New Year’s Eve day.


MANCHESTER, NH – An autopsy was completed Tuesday, January 2, 2024, on Sophia Bonfiglio, 26, who was shot and killed on New Year’s Eve day.
At approximately 2 p.m. on December 31, Manchester police responded to an address on Amherst Street for a reported shooting. The arriving officer located Ms. Bonfiglio suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was transported to the Elliot Hospital, where she was treated for several hours and pronounced deceased around 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday’s autopsy determined that the cause of death was a single gunshot wound to her torso, and the manner of death was homicide.
Prior to the autopsy Tyler Cook, 26, who also lived at the address, was arrested for one count of manslaughter for recklessly causing Ms. Bonfiglio’s death by shooting her with a firearm. Cook was arraigned in Hillsborough County Superior Court- North and held without bail.
