Autopsy results in for 2 found dead inside Quality Inn after March stand-off
The State Medical Examiner’s office has declared the manner of death for Christian St. Cyr and Brandie Tarantino St. Cyr as undetermined, with both autopsies showing a combination of incidental, self-imposed, and inflicted conditions.
MANCHESTER, NH – Autopsies have been completed on Christian St. Cyr, 26, and Brandie Tarantino St. Cyr, 21, who were discovered deceased inside the Quality Inn on March 28, 2019, following a standoff with police.
New Hampshire Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jennie V. Duval has determined that the cause of Christian St. Cyr’s death was the combined effects of environmental hypothermia, blunt penetrating injuries, and acute intoxication by fentanyl, acetyl fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine. The manner of his death is undetermined.
According to Kate Spiner, director of communications for the AG’s office, “blunt penetrating injury refers to an injury caused by a blunt object that breaks the skin and is not a gunshot wound.”

Dr. Duval has determined that the cause of Brandie Tarantino St. Cyr’s death was the combined effects of environmental hypothermia and acute intoxication by fentanyl, acetyl fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine. The manner of her death is undetermined. It is not possible to assign a single manner of death for each decedent as they resulted from a combination of incidental, self-imposed, and inflicted conditions, Duval said.
A request by the InkLink for more information regarding “environmental hypothermia” was not immediately fielded by the AG’s office.
Three people died during the stand-off – Stephen Marshall, 51, of Manchester was shot after he “engaged” with Manchester police and federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents inside the Quality Inn. He was taken from the scene and later pronounced dead, according to police. Autopsy results for Marshall, which were announced March 29, by Associate Medical Examiner Christine James who determined the cause of Marshall’s death was multiple gunshot wounds to the trunk and extremities.
The investigation into the circumstances leading up to and surrounding the deaths of Marshall, Christian St. Cyr, and Brandie Tarantino St. Cyr, remains ongoing.
A report regarding these circumstances and whether the use of force was justified will be released once the investigation is completed. No further updates from the Attorney General’s office are expected until the report is released.
