MANCHESTER, NH – Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium will host four public vigils in remembrance of Pope Francis, offering local Catholics an opportunity for quiet reflection and prayer following the Holy Father’s recent passing.

The vigil will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Friday, April 25, at four Phaneuf locations:

  • Manchester, NH: 243 Hanover St.
  • Boscawen, NH: 172 King St.
  • Nashua, NH: 26 Kinsley St.
  • Brattleboro, VT: 57 High St.

Each chapel will offer a peaceful space for solemn remembrance. Visitors are invited to say a personal prayer before a portrait of Pope Francis, view a slideshow reflecting moments from his life and papacy, and take home a laminated memorial card featuring his image and a prayer.

Phaneuf shared an online obituary for the pontiff, which includes a guestbook for signing.

“Pope Francis touched hearts across the globe with his humility, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the poor and vulnerable,” said Buddy Phaneuf, President of Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium. “As a funeral home rooted in community, we felt it important to provide a space for those who wish to honor him and reflect on his extraordinary life.”

The vigil is open to the public, free of charge, and no reservations are required.

“Our chapels are places of peace and prayer,” Phaneuf added. “During this time of mourning for the global Catholic community, we welcome anyone who wishes to spend a quiet moment in remembrance.”

The Vatican has announced that Pope Francis’ funeral will take place Saturday, April 26, following his wishes for a simpler, more modest liturgy that reflects his lifelong commitment to humility and service. The process of selecting his successor is expected to unfold over the coming weeks, as the Church enters a period of mourning and transition.
