April 24: Community meeting to review Beech Street neighborhood project, and next steps
This project was funded by NH Community Development Finance Authority, with the goal of understanding the experiences of young people in the neighborhood and identifying the needs and barriers they face in accessing services and resources.

MANCHESTER, NH – A year ago, the Deo Mwano Consultancy DMC team conducted a feasibility study in the Beech Street School community to explore place-based support for youth living in the area. This project was funded by NH Community Development Finance Authority, with the goal of understanding the experiences of young people in the neighborhood and identifying the needs and barriers they face in accessing services and resources.
NHCDFA commissioned this study to help inform how to reallocate funds from a previously funded building project that did not move forward.
Today, I’m excited to share that NHCDFA, Granite United Way, and DMC have partnered to bring together community partners to review findings from the feasibility study and discuss next steps, including a new grant program being launched this summer by NHCDFA and Granite United Way.
This initiative will be led by a six-person community advisory group made up of individuals who live, work, and serve in the Beech Street School neighborhood. The advisory group will be responsible for selecting the organizations and initiatives to be funded through this program.
DMC is hosting a community meeting next Thursday April 24 at 2:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army Center. At the meeting, we’ll share insights from the study and provide more information about the upcoming grant opportunity.
