Annual Walk Against Hunger supports food pantry, soup kitchen, and homeless shelters

Each year, the Walk Against Hunger raises funds which support the operation of the New Horizons food pantry, soup kitchen, and homeless shelters.

MANCHESTER, NH – The 28th Annual New Horizons Walk Against Hunger will be held on May 20, at Veteran’s Park in Manchester. Each year, the Walk Against Hunger raises funds which support the operation of the New Horizons food pantry, soup kitchen, and homeless shelters.

The public is encouraged to attend. Day of registrations are welcome or people can register in advance at www.newhorizonsnh.org/walk-against-hunger. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the walk begins at noon. Lunch will be available after the walk. On air personality Ioanis from The Mill 96.5 will be the emcee and will provide the music. Approximately 1,000 people are expected to participate.

The Walk Against Hunger is presented by the Cogswell Benevolent Trust and is one of New Horizons’ signature fundraising events. Other sponsors include: Bonneville & Son, Barry Wolper, Bellwether Community Credit Union, Catholic Medical Center, Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Northern New England, First Congregational Church, Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Manchester School District, Manchester Middle Schools, 96.5 The Mill, People’s United Bank, Spectrum Marketing Companies and Surge Resources.

“This is a fun family event that benefits so many,” said Maureen Beauregard, President of Families in Transition-New Horizons (FIT-NH). “Our goal this year is to raise $130,000. All money raised by the Walk will be used for New Horizons programming for those most in need in our community.”

Families in Transition-New Horizons provides hunger relief, emergency shelter, safe affordable housing, and supportive services to individuals and families who are homeless or in need, enabling them to gain self-sufficiency and respect.
