Alleged shoplifter muscles her way past Kohl’s employee, charged with theft, assault
Two people were arrested after back-to-back thefts, including an incident at Kohl’s on Saturday in which one of the two assaulted a store employee as she muscled her way out of the store.
HOOKSETT, NH — Two people were arrested after back-to-back theft incidents at two different stores on Saturday.
According to Hooksett Police, just before 2 p.m. on April 28, 2018 Hooksett Police Officers were dispatched to Kohl’s, 200 Quality Drive, for a report of an employee who was assaulted during a theft from the store. The suspect was identified as Amanda Bailey-Roberge, 32, of Weare, who allegedly concealed clothes and also attempted to walk out of the store with a TV.
A store employee attempted to stop Bailey-Roberge, who tripped the employee and then struck the employee several times before leaving the store with the clothes. A vehicle description and license plate were obtained and a statewide alert was put out in order to locate the vehicle.
Further investigation revealed that a man identified as Joseph Hanright, 28, of Allenstown was with Bailey-Roberge in a theft of merchandise from nearby Bed, Bath & Beyond in Hooksett that occurred just prior to the incident at Kohl’s.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., Officers from the Londonderry Police Department located and pulled over the getaway vehicle on I-93 south by Exit 3. Both Bailey-Roberge and Hanright were inside the vehicle and were taken into custody without any issue. New Hampshire State Police transported Bailey-Roberge and Hanright to the Hooksett Police Department for the booking process.
Bailey-Roberge was charged with robbery, organized retail crime, willful concealment, and two counts of simple assault. Bailey-Roberge also had a no-bail arrest warrant out of Merrimack County for possession of drugs. Bailey-Roberge refused bail on Hooksett Police charges and was transported to the Merrimack County Jail for arraignment on April 30, 2018 at the Merrimack County Superior Court.
Hanright was charged with organized retail crime and willful concealment. Hanright refused to be bailed on Hooksett Police charges and was also placed on a 72-hour hold by probation/parole. Hanright was also transported to the Merrimack County Jail for arraignment on April 30, 2018 at the Merrimack County Superior Court.
