MANCHESTER, NH – A city man was caught allegedly trying to burglarize a West Side residence after he was seen by the homeowner who was using an off-site security system.

John Peloquin, 38, was arrested by Manchester Police, who described the incident as follows:

On November 6, 2014, at 11 a.m., patrol officers responded to 184 Thornton Street. The homeowner who uses an in-house security system called police dispatch to inform them of a possible burglar. Apparently, the homeowner was able to view the interior of the apartment from an offsite location and relayed information to dispatch.

Several units responded to the residence, including Officer Jake Tyler and his police dog partner, Bud. They observed a damaged front door with possible pry marks. The officers formed a perimeter and entered the home in an attempt to locate the possible suspect.

After a thorough search of the first-floor apartment, police entered the second floor apartment to be certain it, too was cleared from any potential intruder(s). The officers were able to clear and secure the apartment and left the address a short time later.

At approximately 1:10 p.m., the homeowner called a second time and informed police an unknown male suspect had returned to the property. This time, he was spotted in the second-floor apartment, so police returned and searched a second time with police dog Bud. They were able to locate and detain Peloquin, inside the apartment.

Officers on scene determined that Peloquin had no legitimate reason to be inside the Thornton Street property. He was charged with burglary.
