After-hours fire at Backyard Brewery damages bar area
A fire in the bar area of the Backyard Brewery was quickly extinguished, but not before doing about $5,000 in damage.


MANCHESTER, NH – A fire in the bar area of the Backyard Brewery was quickly extinguished, but not before doing about $5,000 in damage.
Fire crews were dispatched to the brewery, 1211 South Mammoth Road, at about 10 p.m. and reported the situation was “under control” by 10:18 p.m.
Engines 3,7,8,9,10 Trucks 1,7 Rescue 1, ALS 3 and Car 1 Description of Incident: E3, T7 and Car 1 were dispatched after an alarm activation. Engine 3 arrived and encountered smoke and fire in the bar area and immediately requested additional resources. There was a cleaning crew on site, and one of the cleaning crew attempted to extinguish the fire with an extinguisher.
MFD crews stretched a hose line to contain and extinguish the remaining fire.
Power was shut to the building, and crews ventilated smoke. Fire prevention was requested to assist in the fire investigation, and determined the cause was accidental. The fire was contained to a small area above the bar. The fire was caused by electrical arcing that caused cardboard boxes stored on top of the wiring to ignite.
