3 police officers stabbed during domestic call, teen charged
A man was arrested following an incident on Feb. 4 that left three police officers injured.
MANCHESTER, NH — Three police officers suffered stab wounds during a domestic call on Ahern Street Tuesday, and a teen is in custody facing related charges.
According to police, on February 4, 2020, at approximately 3:20 p.m. officers were dispatched to 6 Ahern St. for a domestic incident involving some family members.
Manchester Police arrested and charged Akwasi Owusu, 18, with three counts of first-degree assault.
According to a police narrative, officers gave multiple commands to Owusu to comply with their orders, but he allegedly refused and became combative. Owusu had a hidden knife which he began to swing, stabbing three officers as they tried to arrest him. The officers, Brendan Langton, 26, who has served four years, Olivia LaCroix, 26, who has been with the department for two years, and Kevin Shields, 32, a three-year veteran of the Manchester force who previously worked for the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington D.C., were taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Along with the first degree assault charges, Owusu was also charged with criminal mischief for the altercation involving a family member. He also faces a charge of second-degree assault (domestic) and simple assault (domestic) for a previous, unrelated incident.
Owusu was held and will be arraigned in Hillsborough Superior Court on Feb. 5.
