2 from Manchester held in connection with Maine bank robberies
A Manchester woman was arrested Oct. 14 on a federal warrant in connection with a Sept. 4 armed robbery of a Maine bank. An accomplice, also from Manchester, was arrested Sept. 12.
PORTLAND, MAINE – A Manchester woman was arrested Oct. 14 on a federal warrant in connection with a Sept. 4 armed robbery of a Maine bank.
Crystal Dufault, 33, of Manchester was arrested Oct. 14 and returned to Maine by authorities. She pleaded not guilty in U.S. District Court to charges of bank robbery and conspiracy to commit bank robbery. Dufault is accused of holding a pellet gun as she and an alleged accomplice, Joseph Richards, 46, also of Manchester, entered the University Credit Union in Portland, Maine, Sept. 4.
Richards and a third man, Neil West Sr. of Portland, Maine, were arrested Sept. 12.
According to the Portland Press Herald, during the Sept. 4 robbery Dufault, wearing a bandanna over her face, held the gun while Richards jumped over the teller counter, filled a bag with more than $12,000 cash and then fled with Dufault in a getaway Jeep, allegedly driven by West.
Richards and West were arrested on Sept. 12 after the they allegedly robbed another bank in Lewiston, Maine.
All three were indicted Oct. 8 by a federal grand jury. Richards and West each face two counts of bank robbery and two counts of conspiracy.
